Dancing Queen

Norah started dance class again this year at Jill Hoggard’s.  Last year her and I danced in the U&Me class and we had a blast. This time around Norah was for sure ready to dance on her own.  She is in the creative dance class on Monday nights.  It was fun to sit outside and watch on the TV at the “dancing” all the 3-4 year olds were doing.  I cant wait to see the recital! 

Cheerleading Camp

Norah went to the Owatonna Youth Cheerleading camp on Tuesday night.  It is supposed to be for K-8 Graders, but she knows one of the High School cheerleaders very well and so she was able to go.  Norah is outgoing and I knew she would love it!  It was for 2 hours and I dropped her off and stayed away for about 1 hour and 20 mins.  Brennan and I went and sat on the bleachers to watch the rest.  It was so cute and she had a blast!  The girls will get to perform at halftime for a varsity football game in a couple weeks.  She probably wont remember much, but oh well.

SCFF

Another year of the Steele County Free Fair has come and went.  We enjoyed ourselves thoroughly once again.  Shout out to Grandma Judy and Papa Kevin for getting the Kids Mega Ride wristbands again this year.  With the wristbands the kids can ride all week long, all day everyday if they wanted to(or if mom could handle that, not so for my kids).  Both the kids did their bands justice!  We rode rides everyday but Wednesday.  The longest day was Saturday when we met Wendy and her two girls Macy and Jorey to hit the midway.  The only disappointment was that it was about 90 degrees and 90% humidity.  I am not sure if I have ever sweat that much before, but those kids just kept going.  It was a blast, and we all slept hard that night.  Kory works tons of hours at the fair meeting people in the 4 seasons center for the upcoming election, but he managed to sneak away a couple times to watch the kids on rides or get some greasy food.  It is fun and exhausting but we look forward to it every year!  The kids got to stay with Auntie Dawn on Wednesday night while I worked and she was brave enough to take them and her two all to the fair.  My parents meet up with her there for some food and riding the real ponies.  It was the first year Norah was brave enough do ride them…Brennan wasn't into it yet this year.  He was so excited seeing them and even said he wanted to ride, but would never extend is legs when it came time to get on the saddle.  Maybe next year.  PS I don't have may pics—to busy trying to wrangle two crazy kids!

Flip-Flop Cookies

When I saw the recipe for these cookies in Family Fun magazine, I knew Norah would love to make them!  They were not tough at all, and turned out so cute.  Norah loves to frost anything, cookies, cupcakes, whatever it may be.  We just had to frost Vienna fingers sandwich cookies, then I cut sour gummy worms almost all the way to the end, then stick them on like straps.  So cute and easy.   We crushed graham crackers and put them on like ‘sand’ to give away.  Fun!

Tea Party

Norah was invited to her friends house for a tea party.  They are our neighbors in the backyard, and Abbey is just 6 months younger than Norah.  The invitation said she should were her favorite Dress up dress, so we borrowed a fancy Cinderella dress from her cousin Olivia.  Brennan was lucky enough to go with an be the only prince in a castle full of princesses.  The girls had a blast coloring, eating tiny cookies, drinking ‘tea’(juice), then having lunch. Abbey’s mom did such cute things to make it so fun for the girls.  She cut their sandwiches with heart and star cookie cutters and made them ‘parfaits’ for dessert.  It was very fun and I admired Abbey’s mom for having so many girls over!

If this is 30, I’m in

Well, I’ll tell you what.  My 30th birthday was by far the best birthday ever!  Leading up to the big day for Dawn and I, our husbands told us we needed to take the day off of work.  We were not told what we were going to do except for that we would have supper at La Plaza Morena with our families.  About a week before they told us to pick where we would like to go out for breakfast that morning.  We decided on the Kernel.  The day arrived and we headed out for breakfast with our husbands and kiddos.  On a side note, Kory had told me that Jason had taken the day off of work and that we would all spend the day together(as in couples and 4 kids).  Jason never told Dawn, so I didn’t either to keep it a surprise for her.  Believe me I love my kids, but a birthday chasing kids around didn’t seem like a “surprise” to me, but whatever.  I didn't have to work and got to get some extra time with the kids.  So I can honestly say that even on the morning of my birthday I thought for sure we were headed to the zoo.  Ok, so back to the day.  We are enjoying breakfast at the Kernel, and Dawn and I exchanged presents, I got a massage and a book gift card.  Awesome.  So about 20 mins into our meal, we were each handed an envelope to open.  Inside was a letter informing us that we were headed to Northfield for a day of relaxing and shopping without Husbands or children.  It turns out Kory lied to me from day one.  Kory and Jason had lined up appointments in Northfield for each of us to get 60 min massages, have time to shop and for lunch, then we each had appointments for pedicures later. It was so awesome!  Wait…there’s more.  When we ready to leave the Kernel and head to Northfield, a limo pulled up to pick us up and take us there!  Can you believe it?!?!?!? They really went over the top to make our day special, and turning 30 was a piece of cake done like that!  At the end of our day in Northfield, the limo picked us back up and dropped us off for supper with our family!  It was so great, THANKS again Kory and Jason…..we won’t forget that birthday ever!

I am thankful to have such a great friend and sister in you!  Thanks so much for all you do for me and my family.  My kiddos are lucky to have an Auntie like you! Happy Birthday!

Kath Family Fun Weekend

We just spent the weekend at Breezy Point Resort with the whole Kath Family(ok so not the WHOLE family, but most).  This is an annual trip that the majority of the Ed Kath family attends.  We eat, drink, laugh, swim, play games and try to relax.  I really do enjoy this getaway even though the prep for the trip is a job.  I feel like each year as the kids get older we take less things, but still pack half our house.  We left on Friday and stopped to eat and shop in Nisswa and all Norah wanted to do was ride the pony!  Yep, a dilapidated pony that cost 10 cents…they both loved it! 

Norah and her cousin Macy were two peas in a pod all weekend and played so well together.  When we asked Norah what her favorite part of vacation was she said “Macy”.  We need to get together with Macy and her family more often just for fun, although Macy’s dad coined the phrase “nerd convention” so I don’t know about that.  Both the kids were so good and had so much fun…cant wait till next year!  Sorry, I was a total slacker with any more pictures, but believe me we had a blast!

Grandpa’s Sweet Ride

Last Thursday Papa Jeff was super nice to help us out with a little lawn mowing.  We were heading up north the next morning and our lawn was neglected, so Papa came to the rescue.  Needless to say, Papa had two little helpers on the mower…thanks for the fun!
